Silk Perilla Leaf – FZXM9008

A perilla leaf stem in burgundy and green — the shiso plant, with deeply serrated, slightly puckered leaves. The puckering is the identifying texture and it is hard to reproduce in a flat-cut fabric leaf, which is why most artificial versions of dark foliage end up as plain smooth ovals.

Burgundy perilla is the one to note. Dark foliage is one of the hardest things to buy in the artificial market, and designers use it constantly to give an arrangement depth — a bouquet of pale flowers against nothing but green reads flat, while the same bouquet with dark leaves behind it gains dimension.
